Tri-Lakes takes education seriously
Students score higher on standardized testing than neighboring districts, place in the top 10% for ACT college entrance exams and place 20% above the average on advanced placement tests. Among the district's licensed teachers, 100% are rated as highly-qualified in their subject areas, more than 60% have earned a master’s degree or doctorates.
D-38 is situated at the north end of El Paso County, north of the United States Air Force Academy. Choice enrollment is one of the appealing options of the district, allowing families to choose the best school for their children.
All district schools offer programs to meet the individual learning needs of the students that qualify for Special Education, Gifted and Talented and for those students that speak languages other than English. High School graduation rate is over 95% and approximately 85% of students continue on to college. The district provides bus transportation and a hot lunch program. School sponsored athletic programs are available for boys and girls at the middle and high school levels.

All District 38 schools are accredited by the Colorado Department of Education Accountability/Accreditation Unit, which finds no accreditation deficiencies in the district and reports that all schools “exhibit model processes/results,” which is the highest on-site rating available. Palmer Lake Elementary School offers preschool to grade 6 classes within a quaint, economically diverse community that enjoys generous support from students, parents and the community. The school, which serves approximately 370 students, contains the latest technologies and a welcoming atmosphere. Palmer Lake Elementary School also offers a wide range of research-based strategies, educational services and data analysis for every learner through regular education classes, Title 1 reading and math assistance, ELL, special education, counseling services, and gifted classes.
Lewis-Palmer Elementary School is located in Woodmoor and serves about 375 students in grades preschool to grade 6. Situated on 17 acres, the school won an architectural award for its design in 1973.
Ray E. Kilmer Elementary School opened in 1988 and is located 6 miles east of Monument on Highway 105, the school was built to accommodate 600 students; current enrollment is about 400 students preschool to grade 6.
Prairie Wind Elementary School is located in Monument in the Kings Deer Community. It opened in 2007 and serves about 308 students in grades preschool to grade 6.
Bear Creek Elementary School opened its doors during the 2010-11 school year when it relocated to the former middle school campus. It is located in the Jackson Creek neighborhood and serves about 739 students preschool to grade 6.
Monument Academy, located in Monument, is the only charter school in the Lewis Palmer District 38. The school opened in 1996 and serves about 900 students preschool to grade 8.
Lewis-Palmer Middle School is located in the town of Monument and serves approximately 750 students grade 7 through 8.
Lewis-Palmer High School opened in 1980 and is located just east of Monument in south Woodmoor. It serves approximately 1000 students in grades 9 through 12. Lewis-Palmer High School has a long history of high achievement in academics, sports, fine arts, and other extra-curricular activities. Scores for CSAP and ACT continue to rank in the top tier in Colorado, and Lewis-Palmer is ranked 2nd among public schools in Colorado for college readiness.
